The new Firefox

I got the new Firefox update on the 15th of November. Mozilla say that it’s faster than the old Firefox. I actually haven’t noticed any difference in speed but Firefox has now got square tabs, which look better than its old curved ones, and it’s more customizable.

Firefox was the first browser I used when I got my own computer. My first computer was either windows 7 or windows XP, I can’t remember which. Back then, I didn’t know that any browsers existed except for Firefox and Internet Explorer. I used Firefox for most things because it was faster, but when Firefox crashed I would use Internet Explorer, which was more reliable. Later, the computer overheated and broke so I got another windows 7 computer. My parents had discovered Google Chrome by now and my mum had switched to it because it was even faster. However, my dad kept using Firefox because he was used to it and his bookmarks were on it. I decided to keep using Firefox too. Eventually, I got a windows 8.1 computer, which I am still using today. I started using a maths website, Mathletics, to practice maths, but it only worked on Google Chrome so I had to download it. I liked how simple Chrome was but I still liked Firefox better because of its menu bar. I like the Firefox bookmarks better than the Chrome bookmarks. I also like Mozilla, the creators of Firefox, because they seem to actually care about their customers. Their motto is “internet for people, not profit.” They advertise Firefox, but they don’t say that you have to use it otherwise you’ll never get anything done. They tell you how to update Firefox, but they also tell you how to update Internet Explorer, Safari and Google Chrome! I don’t think many companies help you use their compeditors’ browsers! They’re really nice.

I like the new Firefox update. It’s good to see that Firefox is competing with all the other browsers, and hopefully people will switch to it in the future, but I think if they want to beat Google Chrome, they need to be even faster. I still use Firefox for most of the things I need a browser for but I use Google Chrome for Mathletics. I don’t use Internet Explorer anymore; it isn’t reliable anymore. I think Microsoft might have stopped checking it for bugs because they’re too busy with Microsoft Edge.

What do you think about browsers? Which browsers do you use for what, and which browser is your favourite? Feel free to comment and share your ideas.

Some games to play

Here are 2 fun games to play:

Generals.io

Generals.io

This is a game where you are a general and you have a capital producing units. You can send units out to explore and find cities, which give you even more units. However, you must defend all your cities, especially your capital, because if someone captures it they take over your entire empire and you lose. Also watch out for mountains, which are impassable.

They also have a bot server, so if you can do text coding, you can create a bot that plays the game for you! Useful if you want to get on the leaderboard but your parents won’t let you play games for too long on the computer.  bot can play games non-stop without resting, even at midnight, so you’ll be sure to get onto the leaderboard! Here’s a link to the bot creation page:

Prodigy

Prodigy

This is a game we play at school. It is a maths game and you are a wizard who can learn new spells. There are also monsters that you can fight and catch, and they can evolve into more powerful monsters. It’s like a pokemon game except it’s available for free on your browser and you have to do maths questions every time you attack.

In Prodigy my wizard is level 13 and I have 2 level 9 Ground type monsters called Scally and Peeko and a level 8 Water type monster called Gnawdy.

Scally:

Scally gains XP and learns new powers really fast, but the powers are only average and its health isn’t all that good.

Peeko:

All of Peeko’s stats are average, and it’s a good all-rounder.

Gnawdy:

All of Gnawdy’s stats are average too, but he can learn Storm powers as well as Water powers so he’s useful against many types of enemies.

I will give you updates on how my Prodigy monsters are doing every now and then, especially when they evolve. Gnawdy evolves once, and Scally and Peeko can both evolve twice.
